We were expecting another hot and sweltering day of riding, so Alan and I decided to get up early and start riding by 7:45 am (which is pretty early by our standards, lately). We knew we would have a big climb to get up onto the Pocono Plateau and we both felt that the sooner we could get it done, the happier we would be. But it didn’t take long to become completely drenched in sweat this morning. For a while, it looked like Alan had ridden through a sprinkler.
Once we got up on the Pocono Plateau, it was pretty easy cycling west to Jack Frost Mountain Ski Area, where we were meeting up with Susan and Peter at their ski place. We arrived around noon, had showers, did laundry and watched Forrest Gump. I sat out on the porch reading and watching the skies darken and boil up in advance of the storms. Peter, Susan and Lia arrived around 5:30, just as the storms were passing through. By the time we ordered a few pizzas for dinner, there was a break in the rain, and the temperature and humidity were dropping to comfortable levels. We’re expecting Joe and Leslie to arrive tomorrow with their Spanish exchange student, Maria.
