We packed up and left the Vassar Inn as quick as we could this morning, although that still turned out to be around 10 o’clock. Today we had easy riding on big shoulders, bike path and fast roads with a tail wind. Our first stop today was at 7-11 for chocolate milk and donuts.  While there we saw a couple other bike tourists across the street.  They were a young couple out for a Labor Day weekend ride, but they have plans for a longer trip in the future. We also stopped at Ray’s Bikes in Bay City so Alan could test out a Brooks saddle. He didn’t end up buying one, but came away with some useful information, so he can make a decision about what saddle to try next.

Despite our stops, we arrived at our Warm Showers hosts house rather quickly. Greg and Kim own a nice big camper trailer that’s parked in their driveway and it’s ours for the next two days. We’re glad to have such nice accommodations all to ourselves because we’re taking a rest day here (finally!).

Greg made delicious BBQ ribs for dinner and then we went out for ice-cream to Mama Lupos as an end-of-summer treat. Their kids Noah, Caleb and Isaiah start school tomorrow, but we’ll be sleeping in and taking it easy.
