Well, camping at Craters of the Moon last night wasn’t as enjoyable as we had hoped. It was a bit windy before we went to bed, but after midnight the wind really picked up. It was shaking the tent so hard it woke us up. I went out and used our spare tent stake to add a little extra support to the side facing the wind. Then I laid awake for a while wondering if the wind was going to tear our tent apart. I got a little sleep, but not much. Thankfully morning came and our tent had withstood the wind.
After packing up we drove on to Boise to stay with my aunt and uncle, Helen and Gary. They moved to Boise a few months ago, and they’re just the latest of my relatives to move there. I also have a few cousins and my aunt Elaine who live there as well. My cousin Joe came over and we hung out for a while, catching up. Also, my cousin Gary (Helen and Gary’s son) came over for a little while before he had to go work the night shift as a nurse at a nearby hospital. Caroline and I also enjoyed a soak in my aunt and uncle’s hot tub. They ordered some pizza for dinner and the rest of our family came over for a little while. I hadn’t seen most of these relatives in many years, so it was great to see my aunt Elaine and her kids Kelly and Sean and Sean’s wife Lora and their son, Liam. After they left we worked on our blog a little bit and then went to bed early for a good night’s sleep.
I had been hoping to get in a bike ride while in Boise, but unfortunately we woke up to a rainy day. We drove with Gary and Helen to IHOP for a late breakfast with some of my relatives. My cousin, Kelly, was just in town visiting from Ohio, and she had to catch a flight home in the afternoon. After breakfast Caroline and I did a little shopping. Some of the things we bought include a new pair of pants for me, some warmer fleece gloves for Caroline and some special soap to wash our down sleeping bags. Helen and Gary have a nice big washing machine so we wanted to give our sleeping bags a cleaning. That night we went over to my Aunt Elaine’s to have dinner and watch some football on TV. I’m really glad we got to stop in Boise to visit everyone. Hopefully we’ll be back the summer after next to join in a river raft trip.
